Why Teach?

Many years ago, I felt a significant personal physical threat and realized I really did not have any training to defend myself. I decided to pursue significant handgun training and education to become a safe/responsible and effective armed citizen. I have 3 daughters who told me that they have many friends who feel vulnerable and some have handguns but no idea how to use them. Daughters suggested I begin teaching others in need of my instruction.
 
I became certified with USCCA and have been teaching others to indeed become safe, responsible and effective armed self defenders.
 
I really enjoy seeing students, who begin classes with some anxiety, walk away expressing more confidence regarding firearms safety and they’re excited to begin and continue the process with me toward becoming educated and trained armed citizens.

Located in Ashland KY, and a USCCA Certified Instructor allows me to educate and train men and women towards becoming safer, and more effective defenders of loved ones and self. This class provided an opportunity to learn about firearms, firearm safety, and the legal responsibilities of gun ownership. It was a chance to ask basic questions without feeling embarrassed about my low level of knowledge with regard to guns, how they work, proper handling and storage, and what to do in case I should ever need to use one. I highly recommend this course to anyone who either owns a gun, lives in a house or apartment with someone who owns a gun, or is considering purchasing a gun.

I have been around guns my entire life; however, in the past couple of years, I have not had the opportunity to shoot on a regular basis and I wanted to not only get my conceal carry but I wanted to get some extra hands-on training. I have known Jim Wilcox for years. I recently moved back to Kentucky and when I saw he had Concealed Carry Firearms training, I contacted him immediately. I wanted someone I knew and trusted to walk me through this. His class is very thorough and easy to understand. He made sure to ask if there were questions during the entire class. When we went outside, he made sure to encourage me with each shot letting me know if it qualified. He has a passion for excellence, teaching, and seeing individuals learn how to protect themselves, their families, and the responsibility that comes with it. Thank you Jim!

Jim made this class so fun. I was nervous going in, as a new gun owner, with my lack of experience. He put us all at ease, teaching in a knowledgeable, fast pace, and making sure we all retained the information by including us in the discussions, welcoming any and every question. I had so much fun, and feel like I know so much more about gun safety. I’m excited to learn more, I’ll definitely be signing up for future classes with Jim. He has such a passion for for teaching, it really suits him and shines through.
